When it is completely dry, use a plastic spatula or plastic scraper (you can also borrow it from the kitchen stash) to push the wax off the surface. This will prevent the surface from being scratched. Place 1-2 sheets of paper kitchen roll on top of the wax that is still on the surface, as it is very absorbent. Turn the iron on and let it get hot, then unplug it and run the iron over the paper. You will be amazed at how quickly the kitchen paper completely absorbs the wax.
